This A2 leather flight jacket is of the type that would have been worn by pilots and aircrew in the USAAF in WW2.
The A2 was officially called "Jacket, Flying, Summer, Type A-2" and was tested in 1930 and entered service in 1931 as the official flight jacket of the US Army Air Corps and served during World War II, eventually being replaced In late 1942, early 1943 by the AH-J-4 fly jacket, but the aircrew loved this design so much that they kept buying their own A2 jackets made by civilian companies.
