18E KNIL SQUADRON PATCH

No. 18 (Netherlands East Indies) Squadron was a combined Dutch-Australian bomber squadron in World War II under the operational command of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The squadron was established on April 4, 1942 as RAAF squadron at Canberra as No. 18 (Netherlands East Indies) Squadron RAAF. Already on July 6, 1942, it was disbanded as a RAAF squadron and became part of the Military Aviation of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, but still under RAAF command until January 15, 1946, when the operational command passed to the ML -KNIL. After Indonesia's independence, the unit's equipment was handed over to the new state's Air Force Angkatan Udura Republik Indonesia (AURI) in 1950. The squadron was officially disbanded on July 26, 1950.
