This rugged reproduction of the 1903 Brown Leather Belt is crafted from high-quality brown leather and follows the original British pattern introduced in 1903 for Cavalry and Yeomanry troops. Widely used by British forces in World War I, it remained in service into the Second World War, notably with the Home Guard.
The belt features a solid brass buckle and is intended for wear as a trouser belt – without the auxiliary cross-straps and ammo pouches of the full Sam Browne rig. This makes it ideal for re-enactors or collectors who prefer a simple and authentic appearance.
Note: This belt is new and unworn, made after the original specifications. Available in various sizes – please provide your waist size in centimeters when ordering.
History
The 1903 Pattern leather belt was part of the broader Sam Browne equipment system issued to British officers and Cavalry ranks. During WW1, this belt became a common component of British and Commonwealth military uniforms. It saw renewed use during WW2, particularly among Home Guard units and members of the Women’s Land Army (WLA), who wore it as a practical trouser belt.
