SOLD-OUT
A striking 1940 Buick Special Model 41, finished in black and presented in the style of a US WW2 Staff Car.
With its elegant pre-war American bodywork, whitewall tyres and understated military markings, this Buick makes an impressive vehicle for a military history collection, living history display, WW2 event or classic car enthusiast.
The military markings are applied using thin magnetic decals, allowing them to be easily removed. The Buick can therefore be presented either as a period-style military Staff Car or in its civilian classic appearance.
According to the owner, the bodywork is in good overall condition and does not require a complete restoration.
Several parts have recently been renewed, including the battery, ignition coil, spark plug leads, spark plugs and all four whitewall tyres.
The Buick is also equipped to run on LPG, making regular use of this large American classic considerably more practical.
The vehicle retains a 6-volt electrical system.
Known points requiring attention
For complete transparency, the brakes require attention and the fuel gauge is currently not working.
Historical Context
The Buick Special represents the distinctive styling of American passenger cars from the late 1930s and early 1940s, with the generous proportions and flowing body lines associated with the period.
American passenger cars of this general type are especially suitable for a WW2 Staff Car presentation. During the Second World War, civilian passenger vehicles and related models were used for transporting officers, staff personnel and for various administrative duties.
This particular Buick has not been permanently converted into a military vehicle. Its removable magnetic markings allow it to be presented either in 1940s military Staff Car style or as a civilian American classic.
