Historical Context EN
British 1908 Pattern Web Equipment was introduced before the First World War and remained an important part of British Army field equipment for many years.
In 1937 the new Pattern 1937 Web Equipment was introduced. This system became one of the most recognisable pieces of British and Commonwealth equipment used during the Second World War.
Both systems combined strong cotton webbing with metal fittings including hooks, strap ends and buckles. Shoulder straps and cross straps formed an important part of the carrying system and allowed Small Packs and Large Packs to be attached to the webbing equipment.
This reproduction brass buckle is suitable as a replacement or restoration component for both 1908 and 1937 Pattern webbing.
