The Field Service Cap (also called Side Cap) was a standard headgear of the British Army, introduced in the 1930s as a successor to the forage cap. In tropical and desert areas, this cap was manufactured in light Khaki Drill (KD) fabric to match the uniform of soldiers serving in hot climates such as North Africa, the Middle East, and later Italy and Southeast Asia.
