This British Army KD Officers Khaki Drill Tan Tie is a neat reproduction of the light officer’s tie worn with British Khaki Drill uniforms in hot and tropical climates. It has the restrained, correct look that suits a WW2 British officer impression very well, whether for a tropical uniform, summer display, or a more formal officer setup. According to the supplier, this reproduction has been made longer than many original wartime examples so that it fits the average modern wearer better.

The tie is made from khaki drill fabric in a tan / khaki shade, with a length of approximately 140 cm and a width of approximately 9 cm. This makes it a very suitable finishing piece for anyone building a proper British officer uniform with attention to the correct overall appearance. The supplier also notes a useful period detail: when the tie was worn without a jacket or tunic, the loose ends were officially meant to be tucked between the first and second button of the shirt.

Specifications
Khaki Drill fabric, colour tan/khaki, length approximately 140 cm, width approximately 9 cm, weight approximately 20 grams, affiliation British, service Army / Air Force, rank group Officer.

Subtle advice
Pairs very well with a British KD Officers Shirt, a Khaki Drill tunic, officer headwear, correct rank insignia, and other British tropical items from the Second World War period. It is one of those quiet details that helps the whole impression fall properly into place.

Historische Context
Khaki Drill remained in use during the Second World War with British troops serving in hot and tropical climates, including areas such as Burma and Malaya. Although its colour and material later proved less suitable in certain environments, leading to the introduction of jungle green clothing, Khaki Drill remained a very recognisable part of British tropical uniform history. Period evidence also shows the khaki tie as part of officers’ kit, making this tie a very fitting addition to a serious British officer impression for overseas or tropical service.
