During World War II, the East Lancashire Regiment played a prominent role on several fronts, including: 

Campaigns in North Africa: The regiment was involved in the Campaign in North Africa, fighting German and Italian forces, especially in Egypt and Libya. They were part of the 8th British Army and involved in several important battles, such as the Battle of El Alamein in 1942. 

Invasion Mission in Italy: After the Allied invasion of Italy in 1943, the East Lancashire Regiment was deployed in the fighting in Italy. They participated in heavy fighting in and around the Monte Cassino region, which was one of the bloodiest campaigns of the war. 

D-Day and the Battle of Normandy: The regiment was also involved in the D-Day landings in June 1944. They were part of the 48th British Infantry Division, which took part in the fighting in Normandy. This was a crucial moment for the Allies, moving from the beaches of Normandy into the heart of France. 

Liberation of Europe: After the Normandy landings, the regiment remained involved in the liberation of France and the Netherlands. They fought in several towns and villages, including Walcheren in the Netherlands, which was essential to the liberation of the region.
