This Hemp Cord Lanyard is a simple but highly recognisable accessory for the British Army Folding Clasp Knife, also known as the Jack Knife. Made from natural hemp cord, it features a small loop on one end for attaching it to the knife and a larger loop on the other end for wearing around the neck, arm or equipment.

In use, this type of lanyard helped keep the clasp knife secure and close at hand. The knife could be carried in a pocket while the cord was looped around the waist, arm or webbing. A small piece of kit, but one that adds an authentic finishing touch to a British WW2 field impression.

Total length: approx. 130 cm. Material: natural hemp cord. Diameter: approx. 4 mm. Large loop: approx. 50 cm. Weight: approx. 20 grams. Please note: the knife shown is for illustration only and is not included.

Subtle combination advice
Pairs well with a British Army Clasp Knife / Jack Knife, 1937 pattern webbing, battledress, haversack or other British field equipment. For re-enactment and display, this is one of those small practical details that quietly pulls the whole impression together.

Historical Context
Pocket knives were practical tools within British military equipment, used for everyday field tasks such as cutting cord, opening packaging, making small repairs and general camp use. A lanyard helped prevent the knife from being lost and made it easier to keep close during service, marching or field work.

For collectors, living history and re-enactment, this hemp cord lanyard is a modest but valuable detail. It helps complete a British WW2 equipment set in a way that feels both authentic and functional.
