American WW2 Musette bag in the Transitional green and tan webbing.

Nice looking bag which is distinctive by have a dark green main body with the lighter tan colour webbing trim around the edges and the closing straps.

These can be used with a tan GP shoulder strap (not included) and used as a shoulder bag or clipped onto the back of the M1936 suspenders and worn like a rucksack like the US Airborne. These musette bags can also be fastened onto vehicles like Jeeps and Sherman tanks.

During WW2 the American army changed the colour of their webbing from OD#3 (tan) to OD#7 (green) during the changeover of colours the factories had both colours of webbing in stock so for a time period in the war they used a mixture of both colours of webbing. These webbing items made from two colours of webbing are now called the "Transitional" pattern webbing.

Most of the transitional webbing that was made was the very first webbing to be made using the darker green colour so they would have been the first dark green webbing shipped to the front line. Because of this most original transitional webbing is now unusual to find as most of it was worn on the front line.
