M43 uniform jacket.

The M43 jacket was issued as part of the M1943 uniform and was first tested in a field evaluation in the summer of 1943 by the 3rd Infantry Division at the Anzio landings.
After this evaluation, it was released in the Italian theater of operations.
It was only issued in northwestern Europe after the Normandy landings, general general Eisenhower already planned the issue of the new M44 wool field coats as part of the winter uniform.
The first troops in NW Europe to receive the M43 jacket in any quantity were the Airborne Forces of the 17th Airborne Division.
