In the past, flying must have felt like traveling in complete luxury. Passengers were given a passenger list before takeoff, which must have felt like a private trip. There were some well-known names on that list, like a prominent banker sitting comfortably in seat 3A, and even the Prime Minister and his wife sat in row 5. And believe it or not, Greta Garbo was on board, sitting right in the back, incognito! 

It was a time when friendly conversation was an art form and people took the time to get to know each other. The atmosphere was relaxed and the drinks flowed freely. The old clarets and Krug champagne were served in real silverware, accompanied by crisp white linen. During the journey, the plane stopped in exotic places such as Athens, Amman or Aden, where passengers could enjoy a Corona or a Chesterfield cigarette with the local station master. 

But the real highlight of the trip was the food. The menu was extravagant and the meals were served with exceptional attention to detail. Passengers enjoyed a delicious lobster cocktail, followed by foie gras and an excellent selection of cheeses. The coffee was served with petit fours, which were undoubtedly a delight for the taste buds.

It was a time when traveling wasn't just about getting from point A to point B, but also about experiencing the journey in style. It was a time when luxury and comfort were a given and the world was yours to explore.
