The A2 leather flight jacket is of the type worn by pilots and aircrew in the USAAF during World War II. Officially known as the "Jacket, Flying, Summer, Type A-2," the A2 was tested in 1930 and adopted in 1931 as the official flight jacket of the US Army Air Corps.
It served throughout World War II and was eventually replaced by the AH-J-4 flying jacket in late 1942 and early 1943. However, the aircrew liked this design so much that they continued to buy their own A2 jackets made by civilian companies.
This A-2 is made from supple goatskin (like many original jackets) for a comfortable fit from the start. Designed with a completely authentic style, meaning NO hand warmer pockets. One-piece back, brown cotton lining, wool blend cuffs and waistband.
NB! You can also order the A2 without a nameplate. If you would like to order the A2 jacket with name tag, enter your desired name or nickname and scroll down to click on the product bundle.
