During World War II, the USAAF B-2 winter flying cap gained immense popularity among American airmen, evident in numerous original USAAF photographs featuring aircrew members donning the cap. Referred to officially as the "Cap, Flying, Winter, Type B-2," it was standardized and distributed in April 1939 to
U.S.A.A.F. aircrew, including bomber crews.

Made of leather on the outside and lined with imitation "shearling" - a reversed sheepskin material - the B2 leather hat featured a fold-up flap along the sides and back. This flap could be worn up, revealing the shearling, or down to cover the ears and the back of the neck.

Additionally, the B2 leather cap boasted a small USAAF logo stamped on the exterior side of the hat. Notably, the hat's stiff leather peak was adorned with leather trim, and its 1/4" thick imitation shearling lining ensured a snug and accurate fit. Crafted using top-quality leather, this hat stands as an exceptional replica of the original, exemplifying its superior quality.
