Historical Context
The M1943 uniform system was created to standardize field wear for all soldiers. Unlike the paratrooper version, the infantry trousers did not include large cargo pockets on the thighs, as regular infantrymen had no need for them. This simplified design made production faster and cheaper. The M43 Infantry Trousers were widely issued to US troops in the later war years and remained in service well after WWII.
