Historical Context
The M1943 field jacket was introduced in 1943 to replace the earlier M41 jacket. Airborne divisions such as the 82nd and 101st received this model during the campaigns of 1944–1945. With its longer cut, larger pockets, and sturdier design, the jacket offered improved field protection and comfort. It became the standard jacket of the US Army in the final war years and continued in use well after WWII.
