These are great copies of the 1966 Benrus DTU-2A/P watch. It was one of the first made based on the US government's MIL-W-3818B rules. The government wanted a cheap watch that was correct, didn't need fixing, and could be thrown away. It could be made of plastic or metal and was for soldiers in the Vietnam War.
Each watch features:
A black dial with white numerals and indices.
Battery-powered Quartz movement.
An inner track for 24-hour readings. Originally the hands and numerals would have been painted with luminous, radioactive tritium. However, these reproductions use more modern, safe luminous alternatives for easy reading in low light conditions.
A 25cm olive green wrist strap, which is held in place by spring bars.
The watch face encased in a burnished grey metal housing.
A snap-off back casing.
It measures 32mm across, not including the crown.
The reverse is stamped with a serial number as well as the date, ‘AUG 1966’.
A flat brown presentation box with silver text.
Each watch has a maximum wrist size of 23cm.
