These WASP Collar Badges are supplied as a pair of metal collar badges featuring the letters W.A.S.P.. The badges have a gold-coloured metal finish and are intended for wear on the collar, lapel or as part of a WASP display uniform.

They refer to the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the female pilots who played a remarkable role in American aviation history during the Second World War. A small but meaningful detail, ideal for a WASP uniform, USAAF display, museum setup, living history or re-enactment presentation.

Specifications: pair of 2 badges, metal construction, gold-coloured finish, clutch-back fastening, reproduction.

Subtle advice block
These collar badges combine well with a WASP service uniform, A-2 flight jacket display, WASP wings, Fifinella patch or other USAAF-related insignia. For a complete historical presentation, they can be displayed together with information about female pilots serving within the American wartime aviation structure.

Historical Context
The Women Airforce Service Pilots, known as WASP, were formed in 1943 when the WAFS and WFTD programmes were merged. These female pilots carried out ferry flights, test flights, transport duties and other support missions within the United States. Their work helped free male pilots for operational service.

Although the WASP pilots did not receive full military status during the war, their contribution to the American war effort was significant. The W.A.S.P. lettering on these badges represents a remarkable group of women who earned their place in aviation history, not from the sidelines, but from the cockpit.
