WW2 British MK1 Bren Gun assault vest

This MK1 vest was a simplified version of the assault jerkin and is know as either Skeleton assault vest or Bren assault vest, It was made from the same cotton canvas as the assault jerkin.

This is the first model that was issued during 1943/44 so would have been used in Normandy and Operations in Belgium and Holland.

Mk1 Bren Vest features:

2 large bren magazine pouches
2 magazines per pouch
Pouches could also carry 2" mortar bombs
Frog to fit spike or sten bayonet
3 sizes available
webbing waist belt with brass buckle
Webbing chest harness with brass buckle
Wooden toggle with cord fasteners
Stamped inside with H & S ltd 1943

The vest would have be worn over a windproof smock as light fighting order when on combat missions.
