Historical Context
The Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry was a regular infantry regiment of the British Army. During the Second World War, the regiment became particularly famous for the actions of the 2nd Battalion on 6 June 1944, when they captured the strategically vital bridges at Bénouville and Ranville, later known as Pegasus Bridge.
Soldiers wore their regimental badge on the cap or beret, while divisional formation signs were worn as cloth patches on the sleeve. The badge represents the proud tradition of the regiment within the British light infantry.
