Introducing our RAF Pilot Wings Sweetheart Brooches. These brooches, affectionately known as sweetheart brooches, hold a special place in history as romantic tokens exchanged between servicemen and their loved ones before embarking on duty. Each brooch elegantly showcases the iconic RAF Pilot Wings, adorned with the King's crown and crafted with blue enamel wings.
The WW2 RAF Pilot Sweetheart Brooch was not worn as an official part of a uniform by military units, but was a private keepsake often worn by family members, fiancés or wives of Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots and crew members during World War II.
Who wore these brooches?
- Wives of RAF personnel (mothers, sisters, fiancées, wives)
- Sometimes girlfriends or relatives of other Commonwealth members of the RAF, such as from Canada (RCAF), Australia (RAAF) or New Zealand (RNZAF)
- Not by the soldiers themselves while on duty or on the uniform (only sometimes privately or in civilian clothes)
