History
From 1941 onwards, the U.S. Army issued sulfonamide powder sachets as a life-saving battlefield treatment against bacterial infections. Every soldier carried them in his personal first-aid kit. When wounded, the powder was applied directly to the injury. The introduction of sulfa was one of the first major steps in wartime medical innovation, saving countless lives across Europe and the Pacific.
