This reproduction canvas cover is designed for the American G518 1-Ton, 2-Wheel Cargo Trailer, commonly known as the Ben Hur Trailer.
The cover is fitted over the trailer's top frame, creating the characteristic covered cargo compartment associated with U.S. military trailers during WW2. The sides extend over the upper edge of the cargo body and follow the distinctive shape of the G518 trailer.
This Delware version is manufactured in a late-war canvas configuration, without leather components, leather reinforcements or leather fastening straps. This makes it particularly suitable for a late-war restoration or historical vehicle display.

Historical context
The American G518 was officially designated Trailer, Cargo, 1 Ton, 2-Wheel and was widely used during WW2 for transporting equipment, supplies and general military cargo.
The familiar nickname Ben Hur Trailer originates from the Ben-Hur Manufacturing Company, although the G518 design was produced by several manufacturers during the war.
The cargo trailer could be equipped with a top frame supporting a large canvas cover. This created a covered cargo compartment and gave the G518 its characteristic military appearance.
This reproduction follows the late-war principle used by Delware for its military vehicle canvas products, with a canvas construction without leather components, leather reinforcements or leather fastening straps.
